Commencement Ceremonies Postponed
Last week, Egypt's Prime Minister announced several precautionary measures to be taken for the next two weeks until May 21 to reduce the spread of COVID-19. These measures include a ban of any gatherings, events or conferences in any venue. We are now in an environment of uncertainty with the possibility of these precautionary measures extending beyond May 21. At the same time, we must begin the preparations for the outdoor stage and set up next week in order to be ready in time for the dates we had set. After careful consideration of all possible options and to prioritize the health and safety of our graduates and their families, as well as AUC faculty and staff, it is with deep regret that we announce that the Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 commencements planned for June 2021 are postponed to the coming Fall 2021.
I know this is disappointing news for all of us — especially the graduates and graduating students and their families. As we continue to collectively work through the challenges of the pandemic, we will plan ahead for the well-deserved celebrations of graduation. We will send an email in the second half of August for registration for the Fall 2021 commencement ceremonies.
