Condolences - Professor Emeritus William Mikhail

Dear AUC Community,
It is with great sadness that I am sharing that Professor Emeritus William Mikhail has passed away.
Mikhail earned his BComm from Ain Shams University in 1957 having majored in economics. He earned his Diploma of Statistics from Cairo University in 1959 and his PhD in econometrics/statistics from London School of Economics in 1969.
In addition to his many years at AUC, Mikhail has worked at Institute of Statistical Studies and Research of Cairo University, Ministry of Planning, London School of Economics, Dar Al-Handasah Consultants in Rabat, Morocco and in Amman, Techno-Economics Division of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, UN Development Program and UNDESD.
A champion of econometric studies, Mikhail joined AUC in 1974. An active member of the AUC faculty and the Department of Economics for over 30 years, Mikhail was granted Emeritus status upon his retirement.
William Mekhail Hub is remembered for his lifetime of contribution to the science of econometrics and his unwavering support to his students and fellow scholars.
Funeral prayers will be held today (Monday, October 3) at 11:00 am at St. Mary and St. Bishoy Coptic Orthodox Church, Fifth Settlement, New Cairo.
Condolences will be accepted on the evening of (Tuesday, October 4) at St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church's hall, Maraashly, Zamalek.
