Dear AUC Community,
I am pleased to share with you the appointment of AUC alumnus Hisham El-Khazindar ’96 to serve as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees elected him at its last meeting in February.
El-Khazindar has been an active trustee since 2012, bringing invaluable insights as an alumnus and resident of Cairo. He serves as co-chair of the Facilities and Management Committee and is a member of the Executive, Audit, and Finance Committees. A loyal alumnus, El-Khazindar is a long-time supporter of AUC. He established the El-Khazindar Business Research and Case Center, which provides case studies and educational services giving students participant-centered learning tools. He is also a member of the business school’s Strategic Advisory Board and served as an Advisory Board member on AUC’s SpeakUp dialog series in 2020.
El-Khazindar is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Qalaa Holdings. Established in 2004, Qalaa Holdings (formerly known as Citadel Capital) is an African leader in energy and infrastructure. Previously, he served as executive director of EFG-Hermes, where he advised on landmark M&A and IPO transactions in the region, where he started his career in 1996. El-Khazindar serves on the board of several leading regional companies and is a member of the Egypt-US Business Council, a member of the Young Presidents Organization and a fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Middle East Leadership Initiative. In 2013, El-Khazindar was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, and in 2014, he was chosen among the top 100 Young African Leaders by the Paris-based think tank, Institute Choiseul. El-Khazindar earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from AUC and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
