Dear AUC Community,

As I have previously announced, AUC is currently conducting a search for the position of Dean of Students. While this search is underway I am pleased to announce that Michelle Henry, who is the Chair of the search committee, has agreed to serve as the Interim Dean of Students, effective immediately. 

Michelle joined AUC in 2005 as an instructor in the Department of Rhetoric and Composition. In addition to her commitment to excellence in teaching, she has also served as the Director of the Writing Center (2006-2009) and the Department Chair (2015-2022). Under her leadership, the department developed initiatives to enhance the student grievance process, faculty mentoring, support for students with accommodations, and the curriculum, to name a few. She has also served on the Senate Student Affairs Committee (2014-2016), Academic Integrity Committee (2014-2019), Admissions Task Force (2021-22) and the Recruitment Task Force (2022) and chaired a NAQAAE accreditation work group (2019) and the Dual-Declaration Task Force (2019-2020). Through her various roles and responsibilities, she has worked closely with staff, faculty, administrators, students and parents. 

During this interim phase, Michelle Henry will be providing leadership and guidance to the various departments in our Student Life area, including the Office of Student Life, The Office of Student Conduct and Community Relations,  the Career Center, Residence Life, the Center for Student Well-being and the Office of Athletics.
