Dear AUC Community,
I am pleased to announce the appointments of Mr. Richard Brow as vice president for institutional advancement and alumni relations, Dr. Khaled Tarabieh as university architect, and Mr. Mena Hanna as director of government relations in Washington, DC.
Mr. Brow will assume his post effective September 1, 2022. Based in Cairo, he will lead the design, execution and evaluation of University-wide programs in advancement, development, fundraising, and alumni relations, overseeing staff members in Egypt and the United States. Prior to joining AUC, Mr. Brow served as chief development officer and chief communications officer at the Aga Khan University. He was also a member of the President’s Council. He previously served as the vice president for university advancement at the American University of Beirut, leading advancement operations, including development, alumni relations, communications, and advancement services.
Dr. Tarabieh began his role on July 1, 2022. He provides oversight over the design, physical development, sustainability, and preservation of University Campus architecture and built environment, including off-campus facilities. Dr. Tarabieh holds an MCP and Ph.D. in city and regional planning from the University of Pennsylvania where he later served as the director of project management for real estate services. He specializes in the planning of energy-efficient urban environments, high-performance building design, certification, and assessment. In addition to his decades of experience as an architect and project manager in the United States, Dr. Tarabieh is a member of AUC’s Department of Architecture since 2012, and is very familiar with both the campus and the community.
Last but not least, Mr. Hanna began his role as AUC’s director of government relations in Washington, DC, on June 20, 2022. Prior to joining AUC, Mr. Hanna served as the senior policy advisor and the legislative director for several members of congress. Mr. Hanna holds a Master’s degree in security studies from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
