Winter 2021 Fully Online

Dear AUC Community,

I hope you have all enjoyed a happy and safe new year celebration. 

As you are most likely aware, the Government of Egypt has recently announced that all schools and universities will be fully online in January. In my email of November 22, 2020, I announced that while most of our Winter courses would be online, a limited number of sections were scheduled to be partially face-to-face or have face-to-face exams. In recognition of the recent government announcement and in order to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19, AUC will be offering our Winter 2021 term fully online. The Winter 2021 term begins on Sunday, January 3 and continues through Thursday, January 21. 

Courses that were previously listed as partial face-to-face for Winter 2021 will now be fully online, as will all exams. Lab courses in the School of Sciences and Engineering are being canceled for the Winter 2021 term. Students who have registered for labs will be notified of the cancellations directly by the relevant department. 

Be reminded that the drop/add deadline for Winter 2021 is Monday, January 4, and that courses dropped by the deadline are eligible for a full tuition refund. 

Students who are scheduled to stay in the student residences on campus and who wish to make changes to their residence should contact the Office of Residential Life at [email protected].

I expect that you may have questions about our plans for Spring 2021. At this point, we are making no changes to our previously announced plans. AUC continues to monitor the health and safety of our community as reflected in our daily Coronavirus Community Dashboard, and to closely follow the situation in Egypt including the Government’s guidelines. 

As always, the health and safety of AUC students, faculty and staff are the number one priority as we make decisions about our modes of instruction.
