Athletic Scholarships

The Athletic Scholarships are partial awards given annually to a select number of students who participate in sports that are listed in the Egyptian Championship Tournament and Olympic Games with a high level of distinction. Maintaining the athletic scholarship depends on the scholarship recipient’s athletic performance and results each year.

Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:

  • Students must actively participate in at least one of the sports listed on this page and that are recognized or organized by the Egyptian University Sports Federation (EUSF) or the summer or winter Olympic games.

  • Students must upload to their application an official letter highlighting recent athletic achievement(s), type of competition participated in, team or individual rank and date of the championship(s). The letter must be issued by the federation of the sport, and endorsed by the concerned sports union, the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, or the Olympic committee. School competitions are not accepted.  

  • Students must be registered as full-time status, i.e. a minimum of 12 credits per semester.

  • Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at time of application and to maintain the scholarship.

  • Students who receive an athletics scholarship must continue to participate in the National Universities Tournament (if their sport is on the program).

  • All athletics scholarships are evaluated by the Office of Student Financial Affairs and Scholarships and the Office of Athletics at the end of the spring semester each year for consideration for renewal.

The scholarship will cover:

  •  15% of tuition for a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester.

AUC Green Scholarship

The AUC Green Scholarship is made possible through funds collected by the University through fines assessed against individuals who have violated the University’s tobacco-free campus policy. The scholarship is awarded to students who can demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility and sustainability through previous action, and a commitment during the academic year to work with various units under the umbrella of the Office of the Dean of Students, and with prior approval from the Dean of Students, any academic department which would help support their efforts. This scholarship may be awarded to up to three students per academic year.  

Amounts awarded are subject to availability of funds and will not be in excess of $1,000 based on financial need and the merit of the proposed activity by the applicant. Recipients of these scholarships are eligible to receive this scholarship for no more than two academic years. 

Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:

  • Be in good academic and social standing in the academic year in which the scholarship is to be applied.

  • Provide a recommendation letter from a staff or faculty member.

  • Have and maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 upon being awarded the scholarship and during their tenure as a recipient.

  • Commit to engaging in campus wide efforts or campaigns that revolve around themes falling under social responsibility or sustainability by submitting a proposal as part of their application process in one of the following formats:

    • PowerPoint presentation - no more than 10 minutes (pdf format)

    • Video presentation - no more than 10 minutes (word document containing link to video) 

    • Written proposal - no more than three pages double spaced (word or pdf format)

  • Participate in an interview and Q&A session with the selection committee

Selection criteria:

  • Merit of the proposal submitted

  • History of prior engagement with subject of the proposal

  • Financial need

  • History of involvement and impact with AUC cocurricular activities

The scholarship will cover:

  • Up to $1,000 to be applied to tuition and fees.

  • Recipients may receive the scholarship for no more than two academic years.

  • Recipients who fail to maintain the eligibility requirements and commitments made as part of receiving the scholarship will lose eligibility to apply for the scholarship for the remainder of their tenure as AUC students, and may have their award suspended for the following semester when applicable.
