Brief Biography

Mohamed Nagib Abou-Zeid is a professor of construction at The American University in Cairo (AUC). Abou-Zeid received his PhD from the University of Kansas in 1994 with honors. He joined AUC in 1997 as a full-time faculty member. He has held several positions at AUC including the chair of the University Senate, the chair of the Academic Integrity Council and the chair of the Department of Construction and Architectural Engineering. Abou-Zeid is currently the elected chairman of the board of the International Center for Academic Integrity in Clemson University. He served as the chair of the Department of Construction and Architectural Engineering from 2008 until February 2015. He has also served as board member of Egypt's First National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Education (NAQAAE).

  • Microanalysis of materials, using scanning electron microscopy, x-ray and image analysis

  • Linear and nonlinear finite element analysis
  • Fracture mechanics of concrete and structural steels
  • Nondestructive testing and evaluation of structures
