Brief Biography

Jasmine Maklad received her BA in economics (1993) and her MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in (1998) from The American University in Cairo. She has taken numerous graduate courses in political science with a focus on political Islam. 

She is currently acting director of the Office of Undergraduate Research (Fall 2017)

At AUC, Maklad has taught a range of courses in Rhetoric and Composition. She has developed numerous RHET 1020: research writing courses around contemporary issues in Arab popular culture, media representation, the American dream, television, Palestine, conspiracy theories and developing nations. She teaches two courses offered as part of the writing minor: Digital Rhetoric and the Research and Writing Internship, and co-developed travel writing, also part of the minor.
