AUC Press Participates in the 2025 Cairo International Book Fair

January 23, 2025, Cairo – The American University in Cairo Press (AUC Press) is participating in the 56th Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF). The fair kicks off today, January 23, and opens to the public on Friday, January 24, until Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Egypt International Exhibitions Center (EIEC) in New Cairo.

For the second consecutive year, the 117 square meters stand of AUC Press will be packed with English-language books and staffed by a team of English- and Arabic-speaking professionals.

Visitors to the AUC Press stand will enjoy special promotions throughout the 13-day event. All AUC Press publications will be available at a 20% discount, with an exclusive selection of over 240 titles offered at discounts of up to 75%, starting at just 30 EGP. Additionally, a dedicated kids' corner will showcase a wide array of books for children of all ages.

AUC Press will also showcase some fifty new books published last year. The latest titles include Thutmose III and Hatshepsut by renowned Egyptologist and bestselling author Aidan Dodson, and The Many Lives of Ibrahim Nagui, a literary memoir by his granddaughter and AUC Professor Samia Mehrez, that explores the legacy of one of the Arab world’s most iconic romantic poets.

Hoopoe Fiction, an imprint of AUC Press, is also showcasing exciting new releases, including Granada: The Complete Trilogy by the late esteemed Egyptian novelist Radwa Ashour, published in English for the first time in a single volume and translated by award-winning translator Kay Heikkinen. Another highlight is Honey Hunger by Omani novelist Zahran Alqasmi, winner of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction, translated by Marilyn Booth. The release coincides with Oman being selected as the guest country at this year’s Cairo International Book Fair.

The AUC School of Continuing Education (SCE) will be available at the AUC Press stand to meet visitors and share details about its courses and programs.

"All of us at the AUC Press are thrilled to once again participate in the Cairo International Book Fair in 2025. This is my first time attending since joining the Press and I share their excitement and look forward to my time on the stand,” said Thomas Willshire, executive director of AUC Press. “As both booksellers and book publishers based in Egypt we are proud to be present with the largest stand dedicated to English-language books, engaging readers and book lovers from around the world to ‘read the Middle East,’” Willshire added.

AUC Press is located at Stand B47, in Hall 2, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
