AUC Press Publishes Three Books on Egypt
The American University in Cairo Press (AUC Press) recently published three books on Egypt: Egypt Inside Out and Cairo Inside Out, both by Trevor Naylor and photographer Doriana Dimitrova, and Ancient Egyptian Jewelry: 50 Masterpieces of Art and Design by Nigel Fletcher-Jones.
Egypt Inside Out, showcases Egypt’s charisma in the 21st century, its varied and magnificent geography and its hospitable inhabitants. In the recent extended version of Cairo Inside Out, the book evokes the light and moods of the great Cairo metropolis with stunning photographs shot from the city's indoor havens. The new paperback edition includes an additional, final chapter elucidating on the recently expanded areas of Cairo’s periphery including the developments in New Cairo.
Ancient Egyptian Jewelry: 50 Masterpieces of Art and Design by Nigel Fletcher-Jones, is a book that draws on the exquisite collections in the archaeological museums of Cairo to tell the story of three thousand years of jewelry-making, from simple amulets to complex ritual jewelry.
Nigel Fletcher-Jones, with a PhD in archaeological anthropology from Durham University, has been director of The American University in Cairo Press since 2012. He writes regularly on Egyptian archaeology and history, and is the author of Abu Simbel and the Nubian Temples (AUC Press, 2019).
Trevor Naylor is a veteran of global publishing and bookselling. He is the author of Cairo Inside Out (AUC Press, 2019) and Living Normally: Where Life Comes Before Style, and coauthor of A Roving Eye: Head to Toe in Egyptian Arabic Expressions (AUC Press, 2014.) He currently holds the position of sales and marketing director of AUC Press and Bookstores and was previously global sales and marketing director of Thames and Hudson in London, where he also ran an independent bookstore.
Doriana Dimitrova is a Bulgarian photographer who has lived and worked in Cairo. She is the photographer of A Roving Eye: Head to Toe in Egyptian Arabic Expressions (AUC Press, 2014).
