AUC to Host NAQAAE Evaluation Team
AUC is currently seeking the reaffirmation of its national accreditation with the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) — the first University to reaffirm its accreditation using NAQAAE’s 10 newly crafted accreditation standards. A NAQAAE evaluation team will be visiting campus from October 28 to 30.
AUC was the first University in Egypt to receive the NAQAAE accreditation in 2010, with additional accreditation at the school and department level for the School of Sciences and Engineering and Department of Management within the School of Business.
“As institutional accreditation is a guaranteed sign of quality in higher education, AUC was keen on reaffirming its U.S.-based accreditation last year with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education,” attested Iman Megahed ’90, ’92, AUC's chief knowledge and strategy officer. “Equally important is reaffirming our leading standing in Egypt by reaffirming our national accreditation with NAQAAE.”
After a rigorous self-assessment process that involved a diverse and esteemed group of AUC stakeholders, AUC submitted its self-study report to NAQAAE toward the beginning of the fall of 2019. The last requirement in the reaffirmation process is the visit of the evaluation team. The purpose of the visit is to observe the University’s congruence with its self-study, determine AUC’s compliance with the NAQAAE standards and provide recommendations for areas within University that can be further enhanced.
“Accreditation unites educational institutions as they share the common mission of providing their students with the highest quality educational experience they can offer,” explained Heba Fathelbab (MA ’10), senior director of assessment and accreditation at the Office of Strategy Management and Institutional Effectiveness. “The self-assessment process required by accreditation is a very thought-provoking and productive one. It has made us reflect on our teaching and assessment, challenged us to be self-critical and gave us valuable guidance to improve our students’ experience.”
The NAQAAE evaluation team is comprised of five renowned higher education members and come with high profiles and extensive experience in education. both locally and globally. During their three-day visit to AUC, the team will be meeting with representatives from all University constituents in addition to taking a tour of its facilities.
“As AUC celebrates 100 years of academic excellence and transmission of knowledge, it is critical for us to look toward our future and ensure that AUC maintains and advances its leading and global position in higher education through establishing collaborations with national and international prominent educational institutes,” explained Megahed. “We look forward to welcoming the NAQAAE evaluation team and showcasing what makes the AUC experience such a unique and remarkable one for our students and entire community.”
