Bint al-Nil/Daughter of the Nile
Bint al-Nil/Daughter of the Nile, an exhibition by Egyptian-American artist Sherin Guirguis, shows a series of paintings and sculptures inspired by Doria Shafik, who led “a feminist congress” from Ewart Memorial Hall on February 19, 1951 to Parliament, demanding that women be granted the right to vote and hold public office. Egyptian women were granted suffrage in 1956.
