Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Mohammad M. Anba visited the New Cairo campus for the first time last week to explore further fields of mutual partnership with AUC and enhance the exchange of future services.

The visit included a tour of the University's departments and buildings and getting acquainted with the various services AUC provides in the academic field as well as cultural, social and sports activities.

During the meeting, Minister Anba highlighted the importance of joint cooperation and scientific exchange with AUC to benefit from faculty expertise in different fields, highlighting that human development is among the ministry’s top priorities by developing employee skills and performance through effective training provided by institutions like AUC.

Emphasizing the University’s role in that regard, President Ricciardone noted, "AUC programs aim at empowering participants with the knowledge, relationships and leadership tools necessary to drive results at the highest levels of global management. We provide top-notch executive training to professionals in the different disciplines. We reinforce and reinvigorate leadership capacities within government agencies and public institutions in a challenging global environment within Egypt and the region."

In addition to Minister Anba, the visit included Deputy Minister of Aviation Montaser Manna, EgyptAir Chairman Rushdi Zakaria, President of EgyptAir Airlines Amr Abu Al-Enein and a number of AUC faculty members.

"The meeting with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the leaders of EgyptAir will have a great impact and mutual benefit on both parties,” said Mona Wagdy, senior director of travel and business support. “It will help upgrade and enhance the travel services that we offer to the AUC community in many aspects and will allow more flexibility that will serve our business and achieve our goal of excellence for our customers.

AUC's different academic schools participated in the visit's meetings, including the School of Business, School of Sciences and Engeering, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, and School of Continuing Education. The latter has long been offering English, management and financial training programs to employees at EgyptAir and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

"The School of Continuing Education has a long history of working with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Egypt Air, delivering training and implementing tests,” said James Ketterer, dean, SCE. “We look forward to the next phase of this relationship and expanding our work with the ministry, which underscores SCE's role in supporting Egypt."
