Ahmed Badreldin ’96: Investing in AUC’s Future
“AUC provided me with the foundation on which I have been able to build my career,” he said.Ahmed Badreldin, senior partner and co-head of Large Cap Private Equity at The Abraaj Group, is a proud member of AUC's Class of 1996.
Badreldin's investment banking career spans more than 15 years. As the years passed, he never forgot AUC's influence on his professional successes. In return, Badreldin played a key role in establishing the endowed Abraaj Group Professorship in Private Equity and the endowed Abraaj Group Research Fund, both of which were funded by a generous $1.1 million gift from the firm.
“The newly introduced endowed professorship in private equity will undoubtedly contribute to the growing resources and facilities made available for the [School of Business's] concentration in finance,” said Sherif Kamel, dean of AUC's School of Business.
Additionally, The Abraaj Group Research Fund helps strengthen academic research activities in private equity, venture capital and investment management.
Abraaj Group executives are also committed to maintaining an active role on campus by regularly participating in guest lectures. “At Abraaj, we invest in the long term and we always seek to make a positive and sustainable impact on the broader community," said Badreldin. "Our endowment to AUC is no different. We trust that our endowment will play a part in instilling an understanding of the societal returns that responsible investment in private enterprise can generate in tomorrow’s leaders.”
Abraaj Group's generous gift will help AUC recruit exceptional teachers and researchers and, in turn, attract the brightest students to the University, thereby creating a dynamic academic environment that is capable of yielding generations of AUCians who are equipped to follow in Badreldin’s footsteps as leaders in their chosen fields, as well as caring members of their communities.
