AUC Recognizes Staff for Dedication, Long Years of Service

Each year, AUC’s Office of Human Resources recognizes staff members who have dedicated long years of service to the University. This year, each area held its own recognition event to celebrate staff members who have worked at AUC for 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35 years. A total of 155 staff members were honored this year.

Each area head organized a celebration where staff members were presented with certificates and gifts to honor their dedicated service and commitment to the University. Sarah Refaat, associate vice president for human resources, addressed each area at the celebrations, expressing the University’s appreciation for staff efforts.

"The annual Service Recognition Celebration is a longstanding tradition that aims to applaud the contributions of our longtime employees,” said Rania Attia, director of human resources affairs. “The event is a wonderful opportunity for senior management to honor the dedication of some of AUC’s most devoted employees.”

Maha Guindi, executive director of AUC’s Career Center, celebrated 35 years of service at the event. She began her career working with the alumni office and later co-led the establishment of the Office of Career Advising and Placement Services (CAPS) as a founding director.

"Reflecting back on my years at AUC is a source of pride,” Guindi affirmed. “It is not the number of years spent at the University as much as the achievements that took place during those years. I believe that those achievements wouldn't have been possible without having a clear vision, the support of the AUC administration and, most importantly, working with a professional team that believes in and is dedicated to the Career Center’s mission."

Marwa Mansour, assistant director for operations in the Department of Academic Computing Technologies, was recognized for her 20 years of dedication and service to the University. Mansour first joined AUC as an undergraduate student in 1992, majoring in computer science. Even as a student, she made time to contribute to the University, joining the work-study program, serving as a teacher’s assistant for many courses and working at the registrar. Upon graduating, she joined the English literature department, simultaneously pursuing her master’s degree in computer science.

 “My dream as an undergraduate student had been to continue working at AUC after my graduation,” Mansour reflected. “In 2000, my dream of working for the Office of University Academic Computing Technologies came true, and I have continued working in this department until now. Throughout my professional experience at the University, whether at AUC Tahrir Square or the New Cairo campus, my passion toward AUC has continued growing. AUC has shaped the person I am today. I owe the University a lot and will always give to AUC.”
