No Knives in the Kitchen of This City tells the story of life under tragedy and ruin in Aleppo through the eyes of one of its families. Winner of the 2013 Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature, No Knives in the Kitchen of This City is set between the 1960s and 2000s, and vividly depicts the sights and sounds of life in Aleppo.
