Yasmin Mansour has over 15 years of experience in the facilities and operations field, focusing on addressing environmental challenges, including climate change, resource scarcity, pollution and waste management. As the sustainability director at The American University in Cairo (AUC), she leads the Office of Sustainability and works to embed a sustainable development philosophy and culture within the university and improve its institutional response to environmental challenges.
Mansour has extensive experience in developing and writing technical reports, including carbon footprint and sustainability reports, as well as international reports addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She has also developed AUC's COE "UNGC - Communication on Engagement," highlighting the University's commitment to the United Nations' principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.
Mansour is a certified Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) and holds Facility Management Professional (FMP) credentials from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Mansour received a master's degree with honors in construction management from The American University in Cairo.
In addition to her role at AUC, Mansour is actively involved in community services and NGOs. Mansour is a board member of the Egyptian Facility Management Association (EGFMA). Moreover, she is a member of the ISO/TC 267 facility management committee, indicating her involvement in developing international standards in the facility management field. She is a certified AUC executive education instructor, an SFM instructor at AUC and a course developer. Mansour has recently joined the advisory committee at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
Through her work, she always aims to improve the University's operations, strengthen its finances, and enhance its reputation as a sustainability leader in Cairo, Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa region.
Overall, her expertise lies in the intersection of sustainability, the facilities management field, and design thinking, with a focus on promoting sustainable practices in facilities and operations, where she has gained international recognition for her efforts in promoting sustainability at AUC and contributing to the development of sustainable practices in the built environment.
She graduated with high honors from Ain Shams University with a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, urban and planning department in 2002.
Sahar El Ghandour

Sahar El Ghandour is the sustainability manager. Currently, El Ghandour co-teaches a course titled Strategic Facilities Management at the Engineering and Sciences Services (ESS) at AUC.
El Ghandour joined the Pi Alpha Alpha, the International Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration, at The American University in Cairo, Cairo Chapter.
Additionally, El Ghandour is accredited as a Facility Management Professional (FMP) and Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). She is the chair of the Standards Committee at the Egyptian Facility Management Association (EGYFMA) and a member of Egypt’s mirror committee at the Egyptian Organization for Standardization (EOS) for the ISO Facility Management original committee, known as TC/267.
In 2009, El Ghandour joined AUC as a facility manager of the Heliopolis facility that served the School of Continuing Education. In 2013, she was appointed as operations sustainability manager at the Office of Facilities and Operations at AUC.
She holds her master’s degree in public administration (MPA) with honors from The American University in Cairo, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
El Ghandour master’s thesis was titled Towards More Pedestrian-Friendly Streets in Cairo published in the PPAD Working Papers Series at AUC. Moreover, she recently co-authored a policy paper published at the AUC Public Policy Hub titled Mitigating the Impact of Climate Change on Egyptian Cities: Sustainable Building and Construction as a Strategy. El Ghandour started her career at multinational companies from 2000 to 2008 as a logistics manager at both Ciba Specialty Chemicals and Huntsman.
