Parking

To facilitate efficient parking at AUC parking lots, the following procedures will be implemented:

AUC ID Scan: All drivers accessing the campus will be required to scan their ID at entry gates. Please make sure your card is out and ready to scan before you approach the gate to expedite entry and exit to campus.

Visitor Access: Visitors may only enter the campus through Gates 1 and 5.

Private Drivers:  Private drivers are not permitted to wait on campus and must exit after dropping off riders.

Parking Fines: Individuals who repeatedly violate parking regulations may be prevented from access to campus parking.

Violation

Fine

Parking in the visitor lot, parking incorrectly within designated boundaries and parking overnight without permission

EGP 600

Parking in unauthorized areas, for example, lawns, sidewalks, green spaces

EGP 1,200

Blocking the designated parking zones for people with disabilities spaces, ramps, drop off zones, fire lanes, access to fire hydrants, clinic ambulance designated spots

EGP 3,000

Drivers are reminded to consider riding the bus or carpooling. Carpooling is more sustainable for the environment, will reduce the number of cars coming to campus, and provides access to designated carpool parking spots near the gates. You are also encouraged to arrive a little earlier on campus to allow time for entry and parking.

Parking Access Management System FAQs

AUC Parking Access Management System (PAS) is an integrated system that provides both access control necessities to the campus at its outer gates along with automatic parking subscription and fee collection.

Currently, there are two stages of admission to the AUC New Cairo campus. First, the security officer must carry out a security check for vehicle riders, and second, he will collect the parking fee or check for a subscription where these two tasks are currently being done manually.

The new system merges both stages, where more accurate records of vehicle riders will be collected; in addition, automatic payment, less processing time, and faster admission are among the merits of the new system.

  • Enhance AUC security
  • Eliminate cash transactions for students, faculty, and staff
  • Decrease the processing time needed to enter and exit the campus
  • Provide real-time statistics for parking usage

PAS serves as one of the primary tools for the safety and security of all AUC community members along with its visitors. Graduate and undergraduate students, staff, and faculty will enjoy the full cashless experience offered by PAS during their daily access to campus.

The system deployment will be carried out in two phases:

Phase 1: Soft launch (gate 2 and gate 5)

Community members are expected to access the campus as usual while adopting the same exact payment techniques (subscription via the security office located at gate 4 or paying for the daily paper ticket.

The one additional step would be that all community members with an active AUC ID will be requested to swipe their IDs over the readers to their left during entry and exit to open the barriers.

Phase 2: Full launch, March 2021 (All Gates)

With an active AUC ID, community members will be requested to swipe their IDs over the readers to their left and enjoy the cashless payment.

Important Notes:

  • During the soft launch, security officers instated at the gates will be there to assist you during entry and exit on both lanes.
  • For all vehicle riders with no active AUC ID or with no ID, use the left lane only.
  • It is a must that all community members have their AUC-activated IDs with them at all times. Not having a valid, active AUC ID will cause a considerable delay while being processed during entry and exit.

Swiping your valid ID over the reader to your left during your entry will secure both campus access and corresponding fee parking collection for a one-day pass or waiver in case you are subscribed on a semester or annual basis.

Swiping your valid ID over the reader to your left during your entry will secure both campus access and corresponding fee parking collection for a one-day pass or waiver in case you are subscribed on a semester or annual basis.

If you are an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student with a valid AUC ID, you will swipe your activated ID at the reader to your left during your entry and exit.

Important Note: Always try using the right lane during entry and exit for expedited access.

Parking Subscription

(Suspended for Spring 21 and will resume in Fall 21)

  • Go to the PAS website (link will be announced soon)
  • Log in using your AUC e-mail credentials

  • The corresponding fee will be charged through your Banner student account to be paid with the tuition and fees

One-Day Pass

  • If you are an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student and wish to access the campus by purchasing a one-day pass, you will swipe your ID at the reader to your left during entry at one of the designated gates, and the corresponding one-day pass fee amount will be charged through your Banner student account to be paid with the tuition.

Swiping your valid ID over the reader to your left during your entry will secure both campus access and corresponding fee parking collection for a one-day pass or waiver in case you are subscribed on a monthly or annual basis.

If you are a faculty or staff member with a valid AUC ID, you will swipe your activated ID at the reader to your left during your entry and exit.

Parking Subscription

(Currently suspended, update to be announced later)

  • Go to the PAS website (link to be announced soon)
  • Log in using your AUC e-mail credentials
  • Check the corresponding subscription duration needed and click "subscribe" (annual subscription starts July 1 and ends June 30)
  • You will get a notification e-mail
  • The corresponding fee will be deducted from your next month's payslip

One-Day Pass

If you are faculty or staff and wish to access the campus by purchasing a one-day pass, you will swipe your ID at the reader to your left during entry, and the corresponding one-day pass fee amount will be deducted from your next month's payslip.

This step is required to differentiate between the AUC community and the non-AUC community, whereby, community members will be granted smooth and expedited access.

There are several reasons why the system requires you to swipe your ID during exit:

  1. During emergency situations, the system will provide an accurate record of vehicles on campus.
  2. Accurate statistics on the parking utilization, hence, better resource allocation and management.
  3. Prevent non-AUC community from exiting the campus without security checks/visual inspection.

The drop-off and pick-up scenarios will be handled manually; the gate will be opened by the security guards. Use the left lane and inform the security officer, and he will help you to have free and smooth access.

It is a must that all community members have their AUC-activated IDs with them at all times. Not having a valid, active AUC ID will cause a considerable delay while being processed during entry and exit.

If you lose your ID, you have to report the incident immediately to the ID center, and they will issue a new ID and deactivate the old one.

If your ID is not working, contact the ID center, and they will fix it for you.

You can contact the ID center at ext. 3725/3871, email [email protected] or visit office P029 at the administration building.

All users who already have an active subscription will be automatically enrolled in the new system.

AUC community members can access the campus from all gates, except special purpose gates such as gate 3.

The system will charge you one ticket per day per ID, allowing an unlimited number of entries/exits.

For all community members with an active role at AUC who come to campus with one or more friends or colleagues using one vehicle, you are asked to use the left lane during entry and present your valid ID to the security officer.

Fleet is free; you will not be charged.

The right lane is considered the fast lane at all gates. Faculty, staff, undergraduate, and graduate students with a valid AUC ID are highly encouraged to use the right lane for entry or exit.

You will be requested to pay a one-day pass for a stamped paper ticket to be handed to you.

For all vehicle riders who are not staff, faculty, or students as presented on their IDs, you are asked to use the left lane during entry and present your valid ID to the security officer if you have one so they can process your access.

You will be requested to pay a one-day pass for a stamped paper ticket to be handed to you.

If you have any inquiries or feedback regarding the new PAS, don't hesitate to share it via [email protected] or visit the security office at gate 4.
