International Tournaments

AUC athletes won first place and a total of 81 medals, 46 gold, 27 silver and 8 bronze, in the 11th All Africa University Games held last week in Lagos, Nigeria competing against 70 universities from 35 African countries.

Our 3x3 basketball men and women teams won a bronze medal for making the third place among international universities across all of Africa in the AFRO-VARSITY 3x3 basketball which took place in Uganda this year.

The AUC Indoor Rowing team, consisting of 13 athletes, participated in the World Indoor Rowing Championship hosted for the first time in Prague, the Czech Republic, February 2024.

• Ahmed Mohamed Elshafei, 500m Lightweight Men 19-20 ranked second

• Mariam Ahmed Aboelwafa, 500m Women 19-20 ranked third

Our Basketball 3x3 female teamranked second worldwide in the World 3x3 Basketball Universities Championship. Their journey began in Johannesburg, South Africa in June 2023, when they won and were qualified with only 12 other universities globally for the championship which was held in Qatar, Doha in November 2023. The team 3x3 female basketball champions ranked second place in the 2023 championship.

Our AUC eagles participated, with 84 athletes, in the eighth World InterUniversities Championships, Paris 2023. AUC's overall ranking was fourth place with 30 points. They participated in eight sports: Men's and women's basketball, football, men's and women's futsal, women's volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's table tennis, men's and women's swimming, and women's badminton.​ Our athletes won the Sportsmanship Cup in women's futsal.

The AUC basketball team participated in the Fifth FASU 3x3 Basketball Championship that took place in South Africa in June 2023. This championship is a qualifier for the World Cup, whereby our AUC women’s team successfully won first place and qualified for the World Championship that will take place in November 2023 in China. Also, our men’s team won third place in the championship.

AUC participated with four teams in the Eurojada International Tournament in Serbia and had exceptional performance and results. The rowing team was placed first in the 2,000-meter mixed relay race and first in the women's 500 meter race, and both the futsal and handball teams won finals. This is the second time AUC has participated in the Eurojada International tournament. The first one AUC participated in took place in Germany in 2019.

In June 2022, AUC participated for the first time with 101 athletes at the Tenth All Africa University Games hosted by Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya,  June 6 - 10, 2022. AUC sports teams participated including basketball, soccer, table tennis, track and field, chess, swimming and badminton. AUC won first place among 39 universities.
