Strategy Management: The Formation and Implementation of AUC's 2019 - 2022 Strategic Plan

It is the essential mission of the office of strategy management at The American University in Cairo to ensure that all units work in tandem to achieve the University’s strategic goals. In doing so, the office leads the efforts in developing the University's strategic plan by coordinating with each area. A strategic plan is a management tool that guides an organization to improve its processes and functions by focusing the energy, resources, and time of all stakeholders in the same direction. At AUC, we have developed our 2019-2022 strategic plan to build a competitive advantage; communicate school and department strategies to faculty, students, and staff; prioritize financial needs, and provide focus and direction for moving from plan to action.

AUC’s 2019-2022 strategic plan is designed to capitalize on its strengths and to ensure that it sustains and enhances its quality and distinction in the fast-changing world of the 21st century. Furthermore, the plan aligns itself with the five strategic pillars instituted by the university as a means of maintaining continuous improvement and excellence.

First Annual Strategic Business Planning Conference 2019

The first iteration of the Annual Strategic Business Conference 2019 was successful in bringing together The American University in Cairo's senior academic leaders, top management, faculty, and trustees for a two-day strategic planning session. Each area and school were given the opportunity to share their three-year strategic plans in conjunction with the upcoming budget planning cycle. The event included a number of panels on collaboration across the academic area and fundraising, as well as presentations by each of the academic and administrative schools and areas.

Second Annual Strategic Business Planning Kick-off Event 2020 - 2021

A group of more than 70 senior academic leaders, top management, faculty, AUC President, and AUC chairman met online for a two-day planning session on June 28-29 to start discussions on the FY22 strategic plans for each area and school, in alignment with the upcoming planning and resource allocation cycle. The event included a number of presentations by each of the academic and administrative schools and areas and was organized by the Office of Strategy Management and Institutional Effectiveness.
