Al Habtoor Visits Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, founder and chairman of Al Habtoor Group, visited The American University in Cairo (AUC) on September 8, 2022. He was received by President Ahmad Dallal, Provost Ehab Abdel-Rahman, and Vice President of Institutional Advancement Richard Brow. Lotfi Gaafar, dean of the School of Sciences and Engineering, and members of the faculty gave Al Habtoor and the accompanying delegation a tour of the Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability (CARES) and provided an overview of their research addressing water scarcity, food security and high energy consumption in Egypt and the region.
AUC students Loka Azer, Akram Aziz, Mario Ghaly, and Julia Samir – all recipients of the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Scholarships Program – also had the pleasure of meeting Al Habtoor. The program was established in 2015 to support ambitious Egyptian students from the far corners of Egypt. We thank Al Habtoor for his unwavering support of AUC’s mission.
