H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad
Minister of Environment
Dr. Yasmine Fouad is the Egyptian minister of environment. Her expertise is in the environment and international cooperation fields with more than 18 years’ experience of working in the government, in UN organizations, NGOs and universities. She has an MSc in environmental science and PhD in political science/Euro-Mediterranean studies. She has gained extensive experience in climate change issues through her diversified work with academic, governmental, non-governmental and international organizations.
Dr. Fouad’s work paved the way to the creation of environmental sensitive practices among current and future generations. She led the designing, developing and launching of several environmental initiatives that aim at raising awareness and ensuring youth involvement, such as the presidential initiative “Live Green” for three years (2020-2023).
She supported the Earth Institute in designing a Center of Excellence for Adaptation to Climate Change and supported the AMCEN President in leading and managing two climate change initiatives, mainly the African Adaptation Initiative (AAI) and the African Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI). Moreover, she supported the Nile Basin Discourse – a regional NGO - in designing a proposal and policy paper on the impact of climate change on water resources in the Nile Basin region.
Meghan Sweeney
Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Composition, and the First-Year Writing Director at Saint Mary's College of California
Meghan A. Sweeney is an associate professor of rhetoric and composition and the First-Year Writing Director at Saint Mary’s College of California, where she teaches postsecondary reading, writing program administration, and reading and writing pedagogies. Her research has been published in Research in the Teaching of English, Composition Studies, College Composition and Communication, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, Journal of General Education, Journal of Basic Writing, and Writing Program Administration. She is currently working on a monograph that will describe threshold concepts of reading across the curriculum.
