Jr., Sr.
- Always capitalize and use periods.
- Use the abbreviations Jr. and Sr. only with people’s full names, and do not precede with a comma: Paul Smith Jr.
- On second reference, it is important to distinguish between father and son: elder Smith and younger Smith.
- The notation II and 2nd are not always the equivalent of junior; they are used also by a grandson or nephew.
