Arabic Studies - MA

Program Overview

The MA program gives students a comprehensive academic and intellectual grounding on the development and contribution of Arab and Islamic civilizations. After successfully completing eight graduate courses, each student’s study culminates in the writing of a research-based thesis that contributes original findings within one’s field of concentration.

Writing - Minor

Program Overview

AUC’s writing minor is the perfect choice for students looking to advance their knowledge, competencies and values in the field of rhetoric and writing. This program offers a concentrated study and practice of writing for different purposes and in different contexts, complementing all majors. In the creative genres, students will have the opportunity to cultivate their creative thought through writing and use language in an imaginative way. In the academic and professional genres, the program offers courses that strengthen writing and communication skills in preparation for a variety of careers. Students will focus on the social power of writing and work towards professional competency in the fields of business, science, civil and academic communications.

Visual Arts - Minor

Program Overview

Unleash your creativity with the visual arts minor. This program provides a conceptual introduction to the world of visual arts, with a focus on art history, theory and studio practices. From painting to sculpture, you will explore a variety of techniques and mediums. We encourage students to declare the minor early in their academic career, giving them ample time to complete necessary prerequisites and benefit from our comprehensive curriculum. Once you declare the minor, you'll have the opportunity to meet with the program director for an advising session.

Type Design - Minor

Program Overview

Delve into the exciting world of typography with the minor in type design. The minor offers a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of type, with a special focus on both Latin and Arabic typography. You'll learn the skills needed to manipulate and use typography effectively, as well as gain valuable insights into the history of Arabic script and type. You'll learn how to conceptualize, develop, and disseminate fonts, develop lettering styles and work in the editorial design industry. For students considering a career in the design industry, that is critical. Whether you're interested in becoming a professional type designer, typographer or editorial designer, joining a type foundry, setting up your own foundry, or working as a freelancer, this program will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

Theatre - Minor

We encourage students to declare the minor early in their academic career, giving them ample time to complete necessary prerequisites and providing them with the benefit of practical experience.

Sociology - Minor
