The music minor offers a comprehensive and inclusive musical education for students who want to learn the theory, literature and performance of music. With a focus on both Western and Arab music, you can develop fundamental listening and sight-reading skills, learn to read music, and explore the basic principles of music theory. By studying representative great works of music literature and composers, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for music and acquire problem-solving skills. Additionally, you can make substantial progress in learning to sing or play an instrument, and advanced students may even have the opportunity to present part of a solo recital with their teacher's permission.

You will also have the option to pursue graduate degrees in Islamic Studies, religious studies or philosophy.

Islamic History - Minor

As a student, you will gain a deeper appreciation of the culture and history of the Islamic world and develop essential skills in architecture, interior design, heritage management and research. Political Science - Minors

The program also offers specializations in areas such as international relations, political economy and Middle East politics, all of which can be obtained within the 15CP requirement. Whether you're interested in global affairs, economics or regional politics, the political science minor has something for everyone.

Interactive Media Design - Minor

Program Overview

AUC’s broad-based liberal arts education allows you to diversify your learning with a minor or two — helping you develop skills complementary to your primary area of study and demonstrating to potential employers that you have range. 

The interactive media design minor is the perfect program for students who want to learn the basics of digital image making, animation and User Experience (UX) Design. Through this program, students will be able to understand software and production principles for digital and print-based media and ideate and execute basic graphical animations. They will also learn how to research, prototype, systematize and design a UX concept for a digital product or service while working in teams. This program is suitable for students who are interested in a career in digital products and services such as mobile, tablet or web applications. By the completion of this minor, the students will have a good understanding of the process of conceptualizing and designing digital products or services and the different roles and disciplines it involves.

Gender Studies - Minor

This program will help you gain a comprehensive understanding of how gender impacts our lives from a cross-cultural perspective and provide you with the fundamental knowledge of gender and women studies that will complement any major. The primary goal of IGWS is to open doors to careers in NGOs and a variety of disciplines and prepare you for further academic work.

Game Design - Minor

The game design minor at AUC is a unique opportunity for students of different disciplines to gain insight into the world of game design. With a focus on collaboration and ideation, students will learn to prototype their original ideas using various tools and test them to reach a minimum viable product. This program is open to all students, with a particular focus on graphic design and computer science and engineering courses. Graduates of the program will have a wide range of career opportunities and paths, including the chance to pitch their ideas to industry professionals and work on game projects with other team members.
