Procedures for Unlocking Offices
Procedures for unlocking the offices of faculty or staff in the case they are locked out.
During normal working hours:
- Contact your department secretary, as most have access to all department office doors
- If the department secretary is unavailable or does not have access, you will need to contact the Facilities and Operations Service Center at ext.: 2222. Provide them with your name, issue, building name and room number. They will send assistance as soon as possible
- Wait by the door until the facilities and operations staff arrive and show them your ID
- They will write down the date, time, your name and ID number and ask you to sign the document verifying you are the authorized occupant of the office being unlocked. They will only unlock the office after you have signed. If your ID is inside the locked room, show it to them as soon as they let you in for proper verification
After normal working hours:
- Contact the Facilities and Operations Service Center at ext.: 2222. Provide them with your name, issue, building name and room number. They will send assistance as soon as possible. If you cannot find a phone, go to the nearest security member. He will contact the facilities and operations staff for you
- Wait by the door until the facilities and operations staff arrive and show them your ID

They will only unlock the office after you have signed. If your ID is inside the locked room, show it to them as soon as they let you in for proper verification
Important note:
The custodians are not authorized to open doors if someone is locked out of their office. Do not ask them to open your locked door. In most cases, they don’t have access. You will need to follow the procedures listed above.
