Invention, Implementation, and Assessment of a Writing Plan
Data Collection and Faculty Consultation
- Data reviewed may include faculty writing prompts, syllabi, rubrics, and student samples.
- Faculty collectively determine disciplinary knowledge and expectations for student multimodal communication (i.e., outcomes) through stakeholder surveys and meetings.
Strategies
- Faculty develop strategies to achieve outcomes which may include individual course consultations, faculty development workshops, curriculum mapping, faculty surveys, and other approaches.
Assessment and Support
- Faculty interpret and analyze student writing samples (or other communication forms) to determine effectiveness of the strategies, identify needs, and make recommendations for development of the plan.
Gradual Expansion
- Plan has many iterations
- Scales gradually
- Targets sustainable long-term practices
