It is with great sadness that we announce the death of AUC student, Dania Nader Mohamed Nabil Youssef. Dania was a graduating senior, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She passed away today, Sunday December 19, 2021. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends, may she rest in peace. We will lower the AUC flags - to half mast for three days. The funeral will be held today, at Hassan Elsharbatly mosque following the noon 'dohr' prayers. There is no "azza."

Subject: Bus Service Only Available to Vaccinated
Effective Fall 2021, the bus service will only be available for faculty, staff, and students who have submitted their proof of vaccination. Those who are under 18 or have a validated medical excuse will have to arrange alternative transportation to campus. Since it is not possible to ensure sufficient social distancing inside buses, only those who are vaccinated will be permitted to ride to ensure the health and safety of all members of the community.

The Voluntary Ag (Antigen) Testing Program program facilities monitoring community spread of COVID-19 and early detection. As part of the program, we will be conducting free COVID-19 antigen rapid tests for about 200 volunteers each week. All faculty, students and staff who come to campus are eligible to sign up to participate in the voluntary testing program.

I am delighted to announce a historic achievement for AUC and its stakeholders in the form of a final settlement with the Government of Egypt on the long-standing and complicated question of income taxes owed on AUC employee salaries. After five years of intensive engagement, we have arrived at an agreement whereby AUC faculty and staff receive a discounted income tax rate, based on the exemption of the portion of salaries paid from the University’s non-local sources of funding.

Subject: Winter 2021 Fully Online
As you are most likely aware, the Government of Egypt has recently announced that all schools and universities will be fully online in January. In my email of November 22, 2020, I announced that while most of our Winter courses would be online, a limited number of sections were scheduled to be partially face-to-face or have face-to-face exams. In recognition of the recent government announcement and in order to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19, AUC will be offering our Winter 2021 term fully online. The Winter 2021 term begins on Sunday, January 3 and continues through Thursday, January 21.
